Torture tape threatens US-UAE nuclear deal

The torture issue that has preoccupied the US intelligence community in recent months has re-emerged and could disrupt a proposed civil nuclear cooperation agreement between the United States and the United Arab Emirates. In this case, critics have accused Barack Obama's administration of sacrificing human rights and nuclear non-proliferation in order to maintain good relations with a wealthy authoritarian government in a region of vital interest to the US
