The Final Fate of the HMS Vengeance / Minas Gerais
The ship was loaned to Australia from 1953 to late 1955, serving first as a training carrier and then as a fleet carrier in the Korean conflict as the HMAS Vengeance. Returned to the Royal Navy, she was sold to Brazil in late 1956. Named Minas Gerais, she was rebuilt at Rotterdam and served with the Brazilian Navy until October, 2001.
Several groups expressed interest in purchasing the ship and towing her to the UK as a museum, based on her historical significance as the last of the Colossus Class fleet carriers, and being the last surviving British WWII capital ship.
Supporters failed to raise enough money, and the ship was offered for sale. A scrap company from China bought her, but failed to follow through on their bid, so a private British citizen, shipping tycoon Philip Bush, purchased the vessel to buy the preservation groups more time. The ship sat rusting in Rio, costing thousands of dollars a month in mooring fees, while plans fell through to set the ship up as a museum due to lack of financial support. Time ran out, and Mr. Bush cut his losses and sold the vessel to a scrap merchant from Alang, India. A final auction in Rio afforded a final chance for a preservation group to purchase her, but all were well short of the $6.5 million dollar price tag.
The carrier was towed from Rio in February, 2004, and arrived at Alang in April. She was dragged up on the beach at high tide, and was being slowly cut up. By September the job was well advanced, and by February, 2005, no trace of her remained.

Air France Flight AF 447 (06.14.09 - Night)
With the forensic examination of the remains found (49 up to now) some theories already faded away. More notably the one which said that the airplane exploded and also the one which said that the airplane desintegrated in the air.
So far, we only know that something caused a major electrical failure. With the electrical system shutting down, it became more and more difficult to manualy fly a fly-by-wire airplane. And from the beginning to the end, it took circa of four minutes for the plane to crash in the water.
This week we may know also if when the airplane hit the water, everybody on bord was already dead.
Some debris had been found, but the Black Box has not been found. We're going to have more two weeks to find it before the batteries run out.

Air France Flight AF 447 (06.08.09 - Night)
- only account any new recovered remain when it is already under Brazilian custody.
- not try anymore to determine the gender, leaving this job to the forensic authority.
- not try to identify any object, debris or piece of the airplane as recovering, leaving this job to the French authority.
At the same time, the French Navy (Fr Navy) already sent a submarine, the S604 Émeraude (Emerald). The US Navy is sending equipment to help the search (take a look on previous post). It's also informed, but not confirmed, that an American submarine was also deployed to help the search. There's no information about the identification of the vessel.

The Brazilian Military Commands gonna be move out from the Ministry Corridor in Brasilia, DF. And if you think they gonna have something like the Pentagon, is a no can do situation. The three Commands will move to three new facilities completely apart.
You keep wondering what exactly the former Rep. (PMDB-SP) Ulysses Guimarães, meant when he called the three Military Ministers (the equivalente of today's Military Commanders) the three Stooges...
Well at this moment the most popular song in the Military Commands is the Everly Brother's "Bye Bye Love".
Bye bye, love.
Bye bye, happiness.
Hello, loneliness.
I think I'm a-gonna cry-y.
Bye bye, sweet caress.
Hello, emptiness.
I feel like I could di-ie.
Bye bye, my love, goodby-ye.
There goes my baby
With-a someone new.
She sure looks happy.
I sure am blue.
She was my baby
'Til he stepped in.
Goodbye to romance
That might have been.
Bye bye, love.
Bye bye, happiness.
Hello, loneliness.
I think I'm a-gonna cry-y.
Bye bye, love.
Bye bye, sweet caress.
Hello, emptiness.
I feel like I could di-ie.
Bye bye, my love, goodby-ye.
I'm a-through with romance.
I'm a-through with love.
I'm through with-a countin'
The stars above
And here's reason
That I'm so free:
My lovin' baby
Is a-through with me.
Bye bye, love.
Bye bye, happiness.
Hello, loneliness.
I think I'm a-gonna cry-y.
Bye bye, love.
Bye bye, sweet caress.
Hello, emptiness.
I feel like I could di-ie.
Bye bye, my love, goodby-ye.
Bye bye, my love, goodby-ye.
Bye bye, my love, goodby-ye.

Brazilian NAVY 001
Although I do believe that you must be free in your personal affairs, this is going a little to far with the inescapable damage to the Br. NAVY image.
If someone wants to be gay, so be it, I don´t care or mind, but this one can´t prevail over who does not want. Your personal affairs are exactly this: personal affairs.
